Do you believe what you focus on creates your reality? I'm here to let you know it does and while for some that may feel like a whole lot of responsibility that would rather not have, it puts ALL the power wholly and solely in your hands. The way we direct our thoughts and intentions can have a profound impact on our lives. This idea isn't just a little bit of woo woo; it has roots in philosophy, psychology, and even quantum physics. Our focus creates our experiences and paves the way for the outcomes we experience; for better or worse.
Understanding the role of our focus
Our mind filters a massive amount of information every day. Yet, an astonishing amount of our thoughts are from our unconscious, the secret little pocket that hugely influences our decisions and actions yet lies hidden. Our unconscious is the gatekeeper, so to speak. The mechanism designed to ensure we survive, the part of our consciousness that focuses on longevity, not so much the quality of our life. It is perfect in its design and plays a critical role, and yet it truly interferes with our life outcomes if we allow the dysfunctional aspect to remain unconscious.
When we direct our attention to our desires, the things we want, just because we'd love to have them, that is a TRUE choice. What becomes obvious, however, if you become really present within yourself, is that, the mental chatter will commence. Change is one of the greatest threats to the unconscious (ego) and growth means change. Hence, all sorts of strategies will quietly be evoked.
The Science Behind Our Focus
Have you ever experienced this: You decide to buy a specific car and while you have rarely seen them on the road before you suddenly start seeing your make and model everywhere. The cars were always there, but your attention has shifted. What has our focus reveals aspects of reality that match our thoughts. This works for conscious and unconscious energy. The ultimate question is: What has your focus? If you don't know the answer, your life outcomes can guide you!! It is not always what you think it is.
A Practical Guide To Changing Your Reality
To harness your power of creating your reality, setting clear intentions is vital. Here’s a straightforward process to get started:
Identify Your Goal: Reflect on what you genuinely desire (just because you do and for no other reason), such as a more fulfilling relationship, a thriving career, more confidence.
Visual Focus: Spend a few minutes daily creating a mental image of achieving your goal. Envision specific details, like the feeling of success or the excitement in a new job or the strength of speaking up.
Ask For The One Next Step: When we become really present we can sense the guidance our higher self is directing us to. Listen, sense, see what your one net step is, every step taken bridges the gap between now and the future you want to create.
Practice Gratitude: Maintain a gratitude journal and list things you appreciate. Gratitude is a powerful energy shifter and raises your vibe in preparation of receiving the life outcomes you desire.
The Impact of Unconscious Focus
Often, unintentionally, our focus is set towards dwelling on what we resist and can lead to a self-fulfilling prophecy. The ego fixates on the past which breeds our worries and fears and unwittingly creates more of those situations. For instance: If you have lost a job in the past the ego will be on high alert for situations that may pose the same risk. While you want that new job with a higher wage, unconsciously the ego may be set on the belief- “What if it doesn't work out? Stay where it is safe,” stifling your desire to go for it. Or, if you've been hurt in a past relationship, while you may deeply desire to find your soul mate, the ego may throw out high alert messages of "You don't want to be hurt again." which can result in you never showing up in ways to find your person OR matching the belief and creating the reality of being hurt again.
The Role of Self-Awareness
Becoming self-aware can significantly help you recognise where the true focus is. Self reflection encourages us to observe our thoughts without judgment, enabling us to choose where to place our attention more carefully.
Taking time to set up a morning ritual to become present and focus on where your attention is is vital in creating your reality the way you would love it to be. We are powerful creators but self-awareness is the magic bullet to embrace more of what you do want.

The Ripple Effect
Shifting your focus to create a reality aligned with your goals impacts not only your life but also those around you. Your positivity, energy, and outlook can inspire others to reconsider their focus.
As your life changes, so may your relationships and interactions. A supportive network can develop, creating a community that shares your newfound enthusiasm. When you focus on what you would love, just because you would love to have it, you are more likely to attract like-minded individuals.
Embracing Your Role
We have the ability to shape our realities through our focus and intentions. By consciously choosing where to direct our energy, we can create lives filled with opportunities. Every small adjustment, every bit of self-acceptance, every ounce of commitment to knowing what you're focused on can lead to significant changes over time.
Embrace your role as the architect of your reality. Challenge yourself to focus on what inspires you, and watch as you begin to manifest those dreams. If you find yourself stuck or looping, remember this is potent information to what needs some attention and understanding. Our ego is here to protect us, but it is also essential to learn ways to navigate, tame and diffuse the power it has in controlling our action or inaction.
